The objectives to be achieved in this study are to determine the role of the village head in developing human resources and village governance towards an advanced village in aikmual village and what are the obstacles for the village head in developing human resources and village governance towards an advanced village in aikmual village. The type of approach used in this research is qualitative which is descriptive. The results of this study are some of the roles of the village head in building human resources and village governance towards an advanced village, seen from four aspects, namely approach, health, education, improving skills and forms of transparency of the village government by involving all elements of society in the planning process, this has been running but still requires consistent improvement, especially in the aspect of formal education. The role of the village head in this case must have sufficient attention, whether it is providing scholarships to people who have high achievement and desire to learn but are hindered by insufficient economic conditions. The obstacles faced by the village head in developing human resources and village governance towards an advanced village are the relatively low income of the community and the low level of education and covid-19, which causes the budget for development that has been listed in the rpjmdes or rkpdes to be reallocated to provide direct cash assistance (blt) and handling covid-19 from the apbdes budget.
