GROWING WITH THE EARTH: IMPLEMENTATION OF THE TATANĔN DI BALĔ ATIKAN PROGRAM IN FOSTERING STUDENTS' ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS AND CONCERN

Abstract

This research aims to provide an overview of the implementation of the Tatanĕn di Balĕ Atikan Program in fostering environmental awareness and care among students at SMP Negeri 1 Pasawahan, Purwakarta. The focus of the research includes program policies, objectives, benefits, and the execution of the Tatanĕn di Balĕ Atikan Program at the school. The method used is qualitative, involving interviews with the Principal, Vice Principal of Curriculum, Vice Principal of Student Affairs, Social Studies teachers, and students. The results show that the Tatanĕn di Balĕ Atikan Program is effective in increasing ecological awareness by teaching students to care for and learn from nature. The program is a shared responsibility carried out massively by all school residents and educational stakeholders in Purwakarta Regency. The objective of the Tatanĕn di Balĕ Atikan Program is to enhance environmental awareness and care among students. Its implementation involves teachers and students in rice planting activities, from seed selection, nurseries, planting, to harvesting, providing practical experience for students. Recommendations include strengthening the integration of the program into the school curriculum, improving coordination among related parties, and ongoing education on the importance of environmental conservation.
